Error While Installing Linux.?

I have compaq v3702AU laptop.While installing Linux i get the following error:
Kernel panic-not syncing IO-APIC + timer doesn’t work!
Boot with apic=debug and send a report.
Try booting with ‘noapic’ option.
Please help me with this.

    It would be great if you could provide some information about the linux distribution and kernel flavour that you are trying to install on your Compaq v3702AU.

    I would suggest that you get a newer version of kubuntu. They are up to 8.10 now and it may work better for you.
    THe message means after you boot the cd to do the install instead of selecting install select alternate install options press F4 (or something similar) and you will be able to use the noapic option.
    I do not have the cd handy but you may have to type in something like install noapic. There should be some instructions on how to use the additional options.
